Ketamine as an Antidepressant (Research Study)

Study Published in Frontiers in Pharmacology

Researchers from the Departments of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, noticed that major depressive disorder (MDD) is difficult to treat because the effect of antidepressants isn’t immediate. So they decided to research ketamine as a treatment option since it can alleviate symptoms much more quickly than traditional antidepressants. Outcome: The study concluded that ketamine is a rapidly acting drug and has the potential to revolutionize depression treatment.

Hopefully, more research can be done on how to best administer ketamine so that more people can gain access to it. If you are interested in ketamine as a treatment for your depression, anxiety, PTSD, or another serious mental health condition, contact us to schedule an appointment today.
